Remebering our MOMS May 6, 2011
Mother’s Day is this weekend. I hope we all take a few moments to let the moms in our lives know how much they mean to us. My own mother is a great example of strength, compassion, spirituality and much more. We may not always see the same on different issues but I know she would do, and has done, anything for me to help when needed and is there in times of difficulties. The same is true for the mother of my children. She inspires me to be a better man, husband and father. She is always the side of reason and helps me see through the fog. I married way up out of my league!! I thank her mother for raising up a great daughter, being there in times of trails and helping us get through them. I love them all and would be lost, as most of us would, with out good mothers in our lives.
Remember your mother not only this weekend, but throughout the year. They all have entered the valley of death to bring us into this world. Moms love their families and will forever want them close to them in some way or another. A studio gift certificate would be a great way to keep the family together in a portrait that mom would treasure for years. Contact me if you would like one.
Sure Love Ya Moms
And the winner is… May 2, 2011

This past week I had the great opportunity to photograph Kiley Roundy, a senior at Foothill HS. She is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. We had a ton of fun with her and her two cousins. All three of them are in the cheer or dance squads at Foothill HS. Kiley, this past weekend entered the 2010 Sunburst Miss Teen pageant and needed an image to use for the photogenic part of the pageant. So they called and asked if they could get a print of one of the images for the pageant, of which I made an 8×10 for them. Not only did Kiley win the 2010 Sunburst Miss Teen Photogenic for the state of Nevada. She also won teen Queen, prettiest hair, prettiest smile, best attire and top model look. Yes, I took her portrait but she is truly a beauty and deserves all the credit.
CONGRATULATIONS Kiley you rock!!

Out with the old in with the new. March 10, 2011
My wife hates it many of the great land marks that she knew growing up here in the Las Vegas And Henderson areas have been imploded. I tell her many of the buildings are so outdated and to refurbish them would cost even more. This town has been and will continue to build on reinventing it’s self. Always out doing the past and keeping the buildings newer and fresher looking, many having a great artistic flare.
There is now a casino in every state, which adds up to be hundreds across the country. But,
people will still remember coming to Las Vegas over some boat or reservation casino. Why? For exactly the reasons mentioned above. If we still had the same hotels of some forty years ago people would not give us a second look. They had their place but with better technology, designs and colors people pay attention and are drawn to them helping our economy.
The same is true when it comes to senior portraits. 20,000 plus seniors shuffle in the yearbook studio over a four-month period of time and many have the same photos taken, with the same backgrounds their parents did when they went to school here in the valley. Every photo just blending together, like all the others. Have you looked at your graduation announcements as well? Yep, they are same white paper with gold foil used 30 years ago, the only thing that has changed has been the color of the paper. Do you think your graduation announcements will stand out like the Vegas Strip out just be another card to add to the bone yard pile?
I am in the business of promoting you, because your senior year should stand out from everything else. I stay up to date with the latest styles, colors, art, and technology so your portraits and graduation announcements don’t get tossed to in bone yard. Call me to schedule a session or consultation on how we can get you to stand out from everyone else. 702-564-7166
Family Portrait Displayed as Art in your home October 22, 2010
Anytime you walk into someone’s home, look around. What is it they are saying they treasure the most? Art is very subjective these days and will continue to be. I know many people that love their family like there is no tomorrow. But, when you walk into their home the walls have good looking pieces of art from department stores, catchy phases, and 3 dimensional large objects on the walls. The home looks like those you see in the magazines or what you might see in a model home, everything perfectly placed. As you look closer you see a small 8×10 or 5×7 of the family tucked away on the corner shelf.
Many of our youth look to the media, models, or the entertainment world on how to dress and look. In many cases the same is true about how we decorate our homes. I have watched many of these home make over shows, and it is rare, extremely rare if they use family portraits as decor for the house or room they are making over. What we display on our walls says a lot about what we truly treasure in our lives. By displaying large portraits of your family as art yow will show individuals what you treasure most.
When I have a family that wants me to create a large piece of art of their family for them we do a couple of things first.
- I like to sit down with my clients and discuss exactly what they see happening, their vision if you will.
- Once we both know what the end results are going to be we talk about locations, colors, and size of the portrait and where it will be displayed in the home. According to some designers most art pieces should cover a large portion of the area you want to display it in.
- When talking about clothing and colors, many times we will look at what colors and accents they have in their home and then try to incorporate them as well.
- When it comes to the clothes we always want to have everyone in the same color tones, so we see the family and not have our eyes drawn to the different colors of everyone’s clothing.
This consultation is an important factor when wanting to display your family portrait as art in your home.
It is many times the same questions an interior designer would ask you. So when you are ready to make over the family or other rooms in the house and you want to display a large family portrait as art give me a call.
Smile, and make someone’s day.

Financial benefits to having a professional photographer October 20, 2010
Hey, it has been FOR-EV-ER since my last entry. Sometimes sitting at the computer and typing is just not what I am cut out to do. Anyway, I hope to do better.
I had a great opportunity to be a guest speaker on “The Attitude of Money” talk radio show yesterday. No, I have not turned into a great financial wizard, or I would be cruising the Bahamas. The show is about investing your money wisely and creating great financial and business opportunities for yourself and business, it airs every Tuesday on KNUU 970 am radio from 4pm to 5pm.
So, still wondering why I was on the show, and how a professional photographer can give you financial benefits? Listen to the show and see for yourself. The entire interview is about 30 minutes, I start about 15 minutes into the show. Patrick and Mary both are clients but more importantly great friends.
Until the next time
Smile, and make someones day.
